CIAMIS, Thecuy.com – The area surrounding Situ Lengkong Panjalu was filled with locals attending the Nyangku traditional ceremony and the Panjalu Cultural Festival in 2026, on Monday, September 7, 2026.
This year, Nyangku adopts the theme “Through Nyangku and the Panjalu Cultural Festival, We Enhance the Deepening of Cultural and Islamic Values While Tracing the Footsteps of Our Ancestors’ Goodness.”
The theme underscores that Nyangku is more than merely a custom handed down through generations. This revered tradition of the Panjalu people provides a space to recall historical events, nurture local wisdom, deepen communal ties, and emulate the noble values of the ancestors.
The West Java DPRD discusses the 2026 Revised Regional Budget, with NasDem noting a decline in revenue and a planned Rp3.4 trillion debt. The Democratic Party of Tasikmalaya Regency holds a community competition in Sukarame to commemorate independence.
These values are hoped not to remain merely stories of the past, but to serve as a foundation for the community in living today and facing the future.
Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya stated that Nyangku holds a significance far beyond the mere performance of customary rituals. Through Nyangku, the community is invited to explore and draw wisdom from the life stories of their ancestors.
“To trace and emulate the good deeds of our ancestors, and then use them as a foundation for present and future life,” he said during the speech.
In his view, Nyangku is a noble cultural heritage that plays a vital role in preserving local wisdom and strengthening social bonds and community cohesion. This tradition is also a source of pride that extends beyond the people of Panjalu and Ciamis Regency.
Nyangku has become part of the nation’s cultural wealth that must continue to be preserved. Moreover, the tradition was designated as an Indonesian Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2017.
“This tradition is not only owned by the people of Panjalu and Ciamis Regency, but has become part of the nation’s cultural treasure that we must preserve and pass on to future generations,” he said.
The implementation of Nyangku also serves as a reminder that preserving culture involves not only maintaining a tradition but also nurturing the values that live within it.
Nine athletes from Pasundan Muaythai Academy Tasikmalaya bring home nine medals from the national championship held in Bekasi. The Democratic Party of Tasikmalaya Regency initiates the Blue Sky Movement by cleaning roads and planting dozens of trees.
Respect for history, love for culture, togetherness, mutual cooperation, and the exemplary values of ancestors constitute a legacy that must continue to be revived in community life.
“With that spirit, Nyangku is expected to remain a living heritage—not merely remembered as part of the past, but to continue providing meaning and inspiration for Ciamis generations in the future,” he said.
