CIAMIS, Thecuy.com – The Welfare Desil data in the National Single Socioeconomic Data (DTSEN) is under scrutiny after many residents complained that the desil status does not match their actual economic conditions on the ground. Even people with modest incomes are said to be placed in high desil groups, such as Desil 9 or 10.

This issue is considered serious because desil data serves as one of the foundations for the government to determine eligibility for social assistance (bansos), energy subsidies, and educational support through affirmative channels such as KIP Kuliah.

Errors in determining the desil could result in assistance being misdirected and cause those who should receive it to lose their entitlement.

The situation has also drawn the attention of the Ciamis Regency Alumni of Higher Education Community (KAPT). In fact, Ciamis Regency has encountered problems in the application of the desil that are deemed inconsistent with the economic conditions of its residents.

The Coordinator of the Ciamis Regency Alumni of Higher Education Community (KAPT), Yadi Kusmayadi SE, said that a desil is a classification of population groups based on expenditure (Cost) and income (Income) levels, arranged from the lowest to the highest. One desil represents 10 percent of the total population.

In his view, errors in socioeconomic data collection are not merely technical issues. Such mistakes can have a direct impact on people’s fundamental rights because the government uses desil data as an indicator for recipients of social assistance, energy subsidies, educational support, health care, and other programs.

“Which means, if the desil is wrong then the policy chain will miss the target,” he told Radar on Friday (4/9/2026).

He considered that desil data plays a crucial role in ensuring that government policies reach the appropriate community groups. Therefore, data errors should not be taken lightly.

Given that the desil is the heart of social justice, if the heart is wrong, the whole body will be sick. “This is a data emergency; the government cannot use the excuse of limited time,” he said.

Yadi said that updating the data cannot be done partially because the problems are considered to be massive and structured. According to him, data errors have a real impact on people belonging to lower economic groups.
