ranma 1 2 season 3 anime

In August 1987 Rumiko Takahashi launched Ranma 1/2 as her third flagship manga, after URUSEI YATSURA and Maison Ikkoku. It ran in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday until March 1996 and was licensed for English release by VIZ Media. Her Mao series also continues to receive an anime adaptation.

Studio Deen previously produced two television adaptations titled Ranma 1/2 and Ranma 1/2 Nettohen, which together comprised 161 episodes broadcast from 1989 to 1992. The franchise also spawned 12 OVAs, three theatrical films, and a live‑action TV special in 2011.

The plot follows Ranma and his father Genma Saotome, who fall into a cursed lake and are afflicted by a supernatural curse. When Ranma is doused with cold water he transforms into a girl, regaining his original form upon contact with hot water; Genma similarly becomes a panda under the same circumstances. Their arranged marriage to Akane adds tension, as she initially dislikes her fiancé upon their first encounter.
