Kaiju No. 8: The Movie will serve as the series’ finale, appearing as a theatrical release slated for 2027 and bringing the anime saga to a close on the big screen. The film will continue after the first two TV seasons and wrap up the entire adaptation. It was initially unveiled at Jump Festa 2026 together with the four‑episode Narumi’s Week at Work special.
A striking teaser image debuted with the news, showcasing the slogan “The age of humanity ends.” Studio Production I.G will once again oversee the animation for the movie.
Masaya Fukunishi, the voice of Kafka Hibino, offered the following remarks:
“After Seasons 1 and 2 aired, fans have shared the Kaiju No. 8 experience with me.
Now, in 2027, the saga will finally close with a movie release!
Next year I’ll also turn 32, the same age as Kafka, and I feel there’s a strange destiny in ending this story at this moment…!
I’ll keep pushing my hardest until the very end, creating this beloved work alongside Kafka Hibino and Kaiju No. 8.
Thanks for all your support!!”
Studio Production I.G returns to animate the film, while Studio Khara handles creature design once more. The series has aired 23 episodes from April 13, 2024 through September 27, 2025.
Naoya Matsumoto’s Kaiju No. 8 manga began in July 2020 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service. The series concluded in July with Chapter 129, collecting 16 volumes in total. Viz Media publishes the story in English; its plot follows Kafka, who dreams of honoring his childhood vow with Mina to serve side‑by‑side in the Japan Defense Force. While Mina commands the Third Division’s kaiju‑neutralization duties, Kafka is left handling the aftermath. When new regulations open the force to him again, he attempts a comeback—only to learn he’s been placed on the Defense Force’s blacklist as Kaiju No. 8.
The video game Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME attracted over 750,000,000 pre‑registrations and launched worldwide on August 31, 2025.
