Kaiju No. 8 has unveiled fresh details for its short anime Narumi’s Week at Work, disclosing a September 5 premiere and dropping its first trailer. The four‑episode series will air each Saturday on Toho Animation’s YouTube channel and other platforms.
The short was announced together with the final arc of the main TV series. Production I.G returns to animate, while creature designs are again handled by Studio Khara. Yutaka Izubuchi directs, with Mahiro Maeda on character design.
The episodes include:
- Episode 1: “The Platoon Leader’s True Feelings”
- Episode 2: “The Vice Captain’s Worries”
- Episode 3: “That Guy From the West”
- Episode 4: “The Bond Between Classmates”

The Kaiju No. 8 manga by Naoya Matsumoto launched serialization in July 2020 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform. The series concluded in July with Chapter 129 and has been collected into 16 volumes. Viz Media publishes it in English. The story reads:
Kafka hopes to one day keep his childhood pact with Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight beside her. While she operates as the Third Division captain neutralizing kaiju, Kafka is left to clean up the aftermath. A sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible to try out for the Defense Force again, but he’s listed on the neutralization roster as Kaiju No. 8.
The franchise’s game adaptation, Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, amassed over 750,000 million pre‑registrations and went live worldwide on August 31.
