Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court has unveiled a preview trailer for its second cour, set to start broadcast in January 2027.
The fresh episodes that adapt the First Royal Outing arc were disclosed right after Cour 1 concluded, and they will keep moving forward with Kou Reirin and Shu Keigetsu’s tale. Their bond has now grown into a camaraderie, and the duo will head to the southern region ruled by the Shu clan.
The actors joining Though I Am an Inept Villainess for Cour 2 are:
- Yuichi Nakamura portraying Kou Keikou, Reirin’s eldest sibling
- Shunichi Toki playing Kou Keishou, Reirin’s second‑oldest brother
- Chiaki Kobayashi as Unran, described as the youthful village chief of the southern lands who rises to significance as the narrative unfolds.
The fresh trailer can be viewed beneath this text.
An English‑subtitled version of the trailer is also available.
Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court constitutes a Japanese light‑novel series penned by Satsuki Nakamura. Its digital debut occurred on the Shosetsuka ni Naro platform in July 2020. By December of the same year, Ichijinsha issued a printed volume illustrated by YukiKana. Concurrent with that release, a manga drawn by Ei Ohitsuji started its run in Monthly Comic Zero Sum.
Seven Seas Entertainment acquired English rights to both the light novel and its manga adaptation, providing this summary for the former:
In the realm of Ei, five families present their maidens as imperial brides, yet only one shall ascend as empress. Just as the delicate “court butterfly” Kou Reirin appears ready to wed the crown prince, the envious “court rat” Shu Keigetsu swaps her body! Reirin awakens in the dungeons as the alleged culprit, seemingly doomed—but perhaps not. With a sturdier form now hers, even the spectre of execution cannot halt her!
We were recently granted an interview with Hana Hishikawa, the actress who provides the voice for Leelee.
