TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The flood of information that no longer respects brakes is seen as a serious threat to young people.

Not only information overload, but also the spread of hoaxes, slander, and opinion manipulation that slowly erodes identity and morals in the digital sphere.

This situation became the main focus for the Nahdlatul Ulama Youth Generation (GMNU) of Tasikmalaya City during the Third Regional Conference (Musda III) and Public Dialogue, held on Saturday (25/7/2026) at Popotiam Coffee.

Carrying the theme Digital Civility and Information Jurisprudence: Synchronizing Morals in the Real and Virtual Worlds for the Realization of Public Civility, the forum was attended by all the board members and members of GMNU Tasikmalaya City.

The issue of digital civility was selected for a reason. Amid the flood of social media, digital spaces are increasingly filled with divisive content, while media ethics are starting to be sidelined.

If left unchecked, social media will no longer be a space for literacy, but an arena for mutual opinion manipulation.

GMNU City Coordinator of Tasikmalaya and elected Chairman, Myftah Faried S.IP, said that Musda III is the first step in strengthening the role of Nahdliyin youth in preserving the values of akhlakul karimah in the digital world.

“In this fast-paced era, public civility is not only measured by direct interaction in the real world, but also by how we maintain manners in the virtual world. GMNU is present to monitor the digital space so that it remains conducive, ethical, and enlightening,” he said.

During Musda III, participants unanimously elected a new GMNU management for Tasikmalaya City, with Myftah Faried as Chairman, Deden Faiz Taptajani as Secretary, and Asep Kustiana as Treasurer.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Tasikmalaya City KNPI DPD, Dhani Tardiwan S.IP, appreciated GMNU’s consistency in raising the issue of digital civility, which he considered increasingly relevant amid the flood of information.

He believes that youth organizations must be able to collaborate in facing digital era challenges so that young people are not easily trapped by provocation, hoaxes, or polarization.

“We appreciate GMNU Tasikmalaya City’s consistency in raising crucial issues such as digital civility. Congratulations to Myftah Faried and the elected formators. Hopefully, the new management will bring a fresh wind and continue to synergize in building Tasikmalaya City youth who are character-driven and competitive,” he said.
