TAPAKTUAN – The Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPwBI) of Aceh Province continues to boost central banking literacy and digital transaction security among young people. This effort was realized through the Literasi Ujong Nanggroe event held at Rumoh Agam, Tapaktuan, South Aceh Regency, on Saturday (18/7/2026).

The activity, which collaborated with the Aceh Provincial Education Office Branch for South Aceh Regency, was attended by around 150 students from 17 senior high schools/equivalent across South Aceh.

Through this program, Bank Indonesia expands access to education about the duties and functions of the central bank, while enhancing students’ understanding of the importance of maintaining Rupiah value stability, secure payment systems, and becoming savvy consumers in the digital era.

In the activity, participants received material on Bank Indonesia’s role as the central bank of the Republic of Indonesia through various policy mixes to maintain national economic stability and support sustainable economic growth.

In addition, students also received education on Consumer Protection through the PeKA program (Care, Recognize, Report) to be wiser in using digital financial products and services.

The material was delivered interactively so that participants not only understood the theory but were also invited to recognize various challenges that arise with the rapid development of digital technology.

Bank Indonesia assesses that digital literacy, especially the aspect of digital safety, remains a challenge that requires serious attention. Low public awareness of personal data protection has led to a continuous increase in various digital fraud schemes.

Various forms of digital crimes such as social engineering, malware distribution, and phishing links are still often exploited by criminals to steal data or drain victims’ accounts through digital payment systems.

Therefore, Bank Indonesia continues to strengthen education for the public to be increasingly vigilant against various fraud schemes that evolve with technological innovation.

In supporting consumer protection, Bank Indonesia has issued Bank Indonesia Regulation Number 3 of 2023, which regulates the obligations of all Payment Service Providers (PJP), both banks and non-banks, to implement five main principles, namely fair treatment of consumers, transparency of information, service reliability, data confidentiality, and accessible complaint handling.

The regulation also requires every payment service provider to actively provide education to the public regarding consumer protection in digital payment systems so that non-cash transactions can take place safely, comfortably, effectively, and efficiently.

Bank Indonesia also continues to campaign for PeKA behavior, which is to Care by understanding products, services, rights, and obligations as a consumer, Recognize various risks and fraud schemes along with mitigation methods, and Report to the official service of payment service providers or regulators if experiencing difficulties or becoming a victim of fraud.

Through the slogan “If in Doubt, Stop First”, the public, especially young people, is expected not to be easily tempted by suspicious offers and to always verify before conducting digital transactions.

The collaboration between Bank Indonesia Aceh and the Aceh Provincial Education Office Branch for South Aceh Regency is part of the effort to strengthen the quality of human resources through improving digital economic and financial literacy.

This program is expected to produce young people who are critical, wise in making financial decisions, and understand their rights and responsibilities as consumers amid the rapid digital transformation.

In the future, Bank Indonesia Aceh is committed to expanding the implementation of Literasi Ujong Nanggroe to various frontier, remote, and backward (3T) areas in Aceh so that more people, especially students, can obtain understanding about central banking, secure digital payment systems, and be able to become educational agents in their respective communities.

The activity in Tapaktuan was opened by the Head of the Payment System Policy Implementation Team of Bank Indonesia Aceh, Dien Mochammad Irvan Idris, and attended by the Head of the Aceh Provincial Education Office Branch for South Aceh Regency, Annadwi, along with accompanying teachers and hundreds of student participants.[]
