Thecuy.com – Bank Indonesia (BI) disclosed that inbound foreign capital net flow reached USD 8.5 billion during Q2 2026. The figure reflects overseas investors’ confidence in local financial assets, notably State Bonds (SBN) and Bank Indonesia’s Rupiah‑denominated securities (SRBI).

Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo, stated that the favorable momentum persisted through July 20, 2026, albeit at a reduced level. “Foreign portfolio investments logged a net inflow of USD 8.5 billion in Q2 2026, driven largely by SBN and SRBI, and this continued into Q3 2026 up to July 20, 2026, with SBN accounting for a net inflow of USD 0.1 billion,” Perry noted at the virtual July RDGB press briefing on Wednesday (22/7).

Besides capital inflows, Perry noted that Indonesia’s foreign‑exchange reserves stayed robust. As of the close of June 2026, the reserve balance was USD 145.6 billion, enough to fund 5.5 months of imports or 5.4 months of imports plus government external debt repayments.

Perry added that the reserve level remains well above the international adequacy benchmark, giving Bank Indonesia sufficient margin to preserve rupiah stability and the overall financial system.

Bank Indonesia forecasts that Indonesia’s current‑account outcome will stay in good shape for the whole of 2026, backed by a stable external sector balance. “The central bank anticipates the 2026 current‑account to remain healthy, with a deficit between 1.3 percent and 0.5 percent of GDP,” Perry reported.

Continued foreign‑capital inflows combined with strong reserves suggest that Indonesia enjoys solid external resilience despite global uncertainties.
