TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com—The dilapidated hut occupied by Nana Kusmana (74) appears difficult to receive repair assistance. Land issues remain an obstacle, so the house repair assistance program has not yet been provided.

Several agencies from the Tasikmalaya City Government and the West Java Province Government visited Nana’s residence in Kampung Sindanghayu, Kahuripan Village, Tawang District, on Friday (30/10/2026). As is known, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has said his party has dispatched a team to inspect and provide assistance. “1 house repair, 2 solving the problems faced, especially for his child’s education,” he said in a social media post.

During the visit, the West Java Provincial Government, through Bapenda, handed over social assistance and cash to Nana. However, not all assistance could be processed, especially house repairs, due to land issues that are not privately owned.

The head of UPTD Lansia of West Java Provincial Government, Widhy Kurniatun, said that Nana’s residence was indeed unfit for habitation. His party also communicated with relatives to place the elderly in a special facility. “But for the elderly (Nana), he will be with his sister,” he said.

For his grandchild who has special needs, a health team has taken action and brought him to RSI Hj Siti Muniroh for a check-up. Further steps will be adjusted based on the examination results and recommendations from the hospital’s medical team.

If psychiatric treatment is needed, they will facilitate treatment at a mental hospital. If not, they will coordinate with the family for further care. “We will try to take him to an orphanage; there is also one for the disabled,” he said.

The Head of Residential Areas at the Tasikmalaya City Department of Settlement, Dadam Ramdhan, said that the assistance program for uninhabitable houses must involve houses with privately owned land. However, in this case, Nana is a neglected elderly person without a home. “So it’s not an uninhabitable house because it’s not a house, and the land ownership status is also unclear,” he said.

The government plans to seek alternative assistance, including self-help and donations from agniya. However, the land status must essentially be confirmed as Nana’s property. “Given this situation, insyaallah they (agniya) will also help,” he explained. (Rangga Jatnika)
