Norio Sakurai’s series titled The Dangers in My Heart (BokuYaba) concluded officially on September 15, 2026, with its final chapter appearing on Akita Shoten’s Champion Cross website.
The series began serialization in 2018 in Weekly Shonen Champion before later moving to Champion Cross. It follows Kyotaro Ichikawa, a shy middle‑school student, and Anna Yamada, the popular girl in his class, as they gradually develop a romance despite their contrasting personalities.
The manga has sold over seven million copies worldwide. The concluding volume, numbered 14, is slated for release on November 6. An additional special edition will bundle Kyotaro Ichikawa’s 12th Junior High School Graduation Album Art Book, comprising roughly 200 pages of illustrations.
Following the series’ finale, Sakurai posted a handwritten note:
“I feel an enormous sense of relief that I was able to bring more than eight years of serialization to a wholesome and successful conclusion…!”
I truly believe that The Dangers in My Heart was a project filled with countless wonderful connections. Much like Kyotaro Ichikawa, who began as a hopeless loner, the manga itself evolved through its many encounters.
Season one of the anime TV series consisted of 12 episodes and aired in spring 2023. Season two comprised 13 episodes in winter 2024, toppling weekly charts in an unprecedented sweep and claiming the 2024 Anime of the Year award, plus numerous other honors.
A third season is scheduled to debut in 2027.
Seven Seas Entertainment acquired the English license for the series, and HIDIVE handles its streaming. The narrative centers on Kyotaro Ichikawa, a youth who entertains dark fantasies, whose world shifts after meeting the charming Anna Yamada.
A novel version of the franchise arrived on September 25, 2025, presenting four short tales and a glimpse of Kyotaro and Anna a decade later.
