Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 has unveiled a fresh collaborative artwork with From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2, together with a summary and sneak peek of its premiere episode.
Episode 1 carries the name “The Thing Floating in the Sky Was an Island.” While Teacher and Fran head to the coastal town of Dars, they stumble upon a floating landmass en route. The duo are struck by a skeleton knight and tumble down onto the isle, where they meet a necromancer called Jean. Shinichiro Miki (Teacher) and Ai Kakuma (Fran) provide the narration for the episode’s preview, viewable beneath.
The fresh joint artwork unites Reincarnated as a Sword and From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman by highlighting their common themes of blades and teaching. Fran receives guidance from Teacher, whereas Beryl mentors his own pupils. From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 is now on air and available for streaming on Prime Video.
In celebration of the crossover, both series are running a promotion on their official X feeds, awarding postcards showcasing the joint artwork as prizes.
Yu Tanaka is the author of the original Reincarnated as a Sword light novel series. It first appeared on the Shosetsuka ni Naro platform in October 2015, illustrated by LLO, and entered physical publication with GC Novels in 2016.
An ongoing manga adaptation illustrated by Tomowo Maruyama exists, along with a spin‑off titled Reincarnated as a Sword: Another Wish by Hinako Inoue, which launched in June 2020. Seven Seas Entertainment has secured the rights to the light novel, the primary manga, and the spin‑off.
Shigeru Sagazaki pens the From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman: My Hotshot Disciples Are All Grown Up Now and They Won’t Leave Me Alone (Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru: Tada no Inaka no Kenjutsu Shihan Datta noni, Taisei Shita Deshitachi ga Ore o Hottekurenai Ken) light novel series, illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima.
The tale first appeared in November 2020 on the crowd‑sourced Shosetsuka ni Naro platform. It soon attracted Square Enix, who acquired it in April 2021 and launched publication via their SQEX Novel imprint. An illustrated manga by Kazuki Sato has been serialized in AKITASHOTEN’s Dokodemo Young Champion since August 2021. The light novel series is English‑licensed by J‑Novel Club, and the manga is being released by Yen Press.
