The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake unveiled its first detailed gameplay preview, plus a November 5 release date on Nintendo Switch 2. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment had already launched on Nintendo Switch 2 as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Today’s announcement was made during a special The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, which was revealed alongside a regular Nintendo Direct scheduled for September 9. Be sure to view the trailer below.

Originally launched for the Nintendo 64 in Japan in November 1998 before appearing worldwide later that year, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as one of the most influential video games ever made. Developed by Nintendo EAD and directed by Eiji Aonuma and Yoshiaki Koizumi under producer Shigeru Miyamoto, the title introduced many mechanics that later became standards for 3D action‑adventure titles, including lock‑on targeting, context‑sensitive actions, and cinematic storytelling in a 3D environment.
Link undertakes a journey between his younger and adult selves to thwart Ganondorf’s quest to seize the Triforce and plunge Hyrule into darkness. After its release, Ocarina of Time earned critical acclaim for its world design, gameplay, and music, collecting numerous awards and frequent spots on lists of the greatest video games ever made.
Sales have exceeded 14 million copies to date, covering both the original Nintendo 64 version and the enhanced Nintendo 3DS remake that debuted in 2011. Its impact continues to be felt across the Zelda series, most notably in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which served as the direct sequel when it launched in 2023.
