Nintendo has unveiled a preview trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, started taking pre‑orders and confirmed that the title will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. The game can now be pre‑ordered.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment previously launched on Nintendo Switch 2 as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
The upcoming release is said to be crafted from the ground up for Nintendo Switch 2. The trailer follows Link through Hyrule, featuring dungeon crawls, puzzle solving, monster battles and the use of items like the Ocarina of Time.
It will also integrate ZELDA NOTES, a dedicated service accessible via the Nintendo Switch App on mobile devices.
Two additional amiibo figures are slated for launch. Touching them unlocks special masks in the game, and any compatible amiibo from The Legend of Zelda series will also dispense items that can assist the player.
First launched on the Nintendo 64 in Japan in November 1998 and later released worldwide that same year, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is praised as one of the most impactful games ever created. Produced by Nintendo EAD and helmed by directors Eiji Aonuma and Yoshiaki Koizumi under producer Shigeru Miyamoto, the title pioneered features that became staples of 3D action‑adventure games, such as lock‑on targeting, context‑driven actions, and narrative presentation within a 3D space.
Link’s story sees him shift between his younger and adult years to prevent Ganondorf from seizing the Triforce and casting Hyrule into gloom. Overall sales exceed 14 million units, covering both the original Nintendo 64 release and the improved Nintendo 3DS remake launched in 2011. Its legacy continues to shape the Zelda series, most notably in the direct sequel The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which arrived in 2023.
