Shingo Natsume’s debut original feature‑length anime film, ghost – end of night, has unveiled its principal actors in a freshly released teaser trailer.
Mayu Hotta portrays Nike, a fifteen‑year‑old girl already marked as “selected” in a world that evaluates people at age eighteen for their worth. Despite her early privileged status, Nike wrestles with loneliness and searches for a place she can truly belong. Issei Takahashi voices Mas, a man haunted by his family’s loss who drifts through days covering his skin in tattoos until his path crosses with Nike’s.
The teaser showcases how the duo’s bond develops through their first spoken moments and includes the insert song “Sugar” performed by the Japanese rock band Hitsujibungaku.
The film envisions a future where labor is superfluous and society judges each individual’s value through a rigorous selection process. Natsume helms the project as both director and screenwriter, marking his first original theatrical work after his acclaimed direction of One‑Punch Man Season 1, Sonny Boy, and ACCA: 13‑Territory Inspection Dept. Regards.
When the project was first announced, Natsume remarked, “Through animation—a medium that can be seen as fiction—I aim to craft a story that captures the spirit of our time while striving for genuine realism.”
The production reunites several key crew members from ACCA: 13‑Territory Inspection Dept. Natsume Ono provides the character concepts, Norifumi Kugai handles character designs, Ohzora Kimijima composes the music, and MADHOUSE oversees the animation.
