This time, the losses suffered by residents of Ciamis Regency, Tasikmalaya Regency, and Tasikmalaya City are estimated at Rp500 million.

The case was solved thanks to a collaboration between the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Tasikmalaya through the Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities (Satgas PASTI) and the Ciamis Police.

This discovery serves as a warning that the convenience of digital financial services is often exploited by criminals to trap victims lured by instant gains.

The head of OJK Tasikmalaya, Nofa Hermawati, said that the successful resolution of the case demonstrates the importance of collaboration between regulators and law enforcement in protecting the public from illegal financial activities.

“OJK, through Satgas PASTI, will continue to strengthen coordination with all stakeholders to eradicate illegal financial activities while enhancing consumer protection,” he added.

The case began with a complaint lodged by the public with OJK Tasikmalaya regarding alleged misuse of paylater facilities.

The suspect is said to have offered a limit deposit service with promises of profit to the victims.

However, behind those sweet promises, the victims suffered losses amounting to around Rp500 million.

In response to the report, OJK Tasikmalaya, through Satgas PASTI, coordinated and exchanged information with the Ciamis Police as part of the investigation process.

The investigation results pointed to a suspect who was arrested by the police on July 23, 2026.

Currently, the legal process is still ongoing in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The head of the Ciamis Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Carsono, said that the case disclosure was inseparable from intensive coordination between Ciamis Police investigators and OJK Tasikmalaya through Satgas PASTI.

“The synergy and information exchange with OJK Tasikmalaya through Satgas PASTI greatly aided the investigation process, allowing it to proceed effectively. We also urge anyone who feels they have been victimized to report immediately so that all facts can be fully uncovered in accordance with applicable legal provisions,” he said.
