TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – An alleged case of defamation and slander posted on social media has now been taken to court.
A young entrepreneur from Tasikmalaya, Ridho Nurfebrianto Baskandar, known as Kang Bara, filed a police report against an unidentified social media account with the Tasikmalaya City Police Criminal Investigation Unit on Friday (31/7/2026) afternoon.
Accompanied by a colleague, a resident of Tawang District went to the police station to file a report after his name appeared in several social media posts that he claimed contained false information and caused him harm.

Speaking to Radar, Kang Bara vehemently denied allegations that he disparaged Tasikmalaya’s culture.
In his view, the accusation was a false claim that has spread across multiple social media platforms.
“I’ve come here to report an alleged defamation. All those narratives are fake. I was born and raised in Tasikmalaya, I’ve lived here since I was a child. How could I possibly demean my own region’s culture,” he said.
He also refuted claims that he serves as the secretary of a political party in Tasikmalaya.
Aside from having his reputation tarnished, Kang Bara expressed concern that the circulating narratives could incite hatred, contain elements of provocation, and lead to intimidation against him.
“The narrative is concerning for me. It contains elements that could incite ethnic, religious, racial, or intergroup hostility, provocation against cultural activists, as well as intimidation and threats. This affects my sense of security,” he said.
Kang Bara stated that he does not know the person who posted the narrative. However, the account appears to have detailed knowledge about him.

He said he learned about the allegations from friends, not from searching for information on social media himself.
Furthermore, Kang Bara stated that there are at least more than 10 posts across various platforms, including websites, Facebook, and Instagram, which he believes create a negative perception of him.
The most highlighted allegation is the claim that he made mocking comments and laughed via emojis in response to cultural content on a social media channel.
However, Kang Bara emphasized that he never made any comments or emoji reactions as alleged.
