Digimon Brand-New TV Anime Announced for 2027

After kicking off its 30‑year commemoration project, the Digimon franchise has announced that a fresh TV anime is now in the works and set to debut in 2027.

This reveal expands on the franchise’s freshly revealed anniversary lineup, which also features the fan‑selected recap series Bokura ga Eranda Best Adventure (meaning “The Best Adventure We Chose”).

Though Toei Animation has not yet disclosed a title, creative team, plot points, or cast for the forthcoming show, it has affirmed that the effort will be a brand‑new TV anime crafted specifically for Digimon’s 30th‑year festivities.

A special illustration unveiled with the news reunites the DigiDestined and their partner Digimon from the series’ entire timeline, marking almost 30 years since the original Digital Monster virtual pet debuted in 1997.

This upcoming show will join the franchise’s extensive TV catalog as the newest installment, coming after DIGIMON BEATBREAK, which is now airing in Japan and available on Crunchyroll.

Digimon Adventure is a 1999 Japanese animated series created by Toei Animation in partnership with WiZ, Bandai and Fuji Television. It launched the Digimon media franchise as its inaugural anime, drawing from the Digital Monster virtual pet introduced in 1997. The property has spawned many other adaptations and side projects and will reach its 30th birthday in 2027.
