TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com–The unresolved asset issue is seen as a key factor behind the Tasikmalaya City government’s financial challenges. The Mayor must act to capture new revenue opportunities.
The asset problems of West Java’s Tasikmalaya Regency located within the city area keep resurfacing. It seems that resolving this long-standing issue is not a government priority.
The Secretary of the Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI) of Tasikmalaya City, Arief Abdul Rohman, said the municipal government has frequently raised fiscal concerns. He also discussed initiatives to boost Local Original Revenue (PAD) from tax and retribution sources. “However, there has been no visible increase in PAD so far,” he told Radar (22/10/2026).

He believes the unresolved asset matter provides a clue to the city’s difficulties. Several assets are strategic and could generate significant income. “The former regional government building and the former Cilembang terminal are highly potential if the city can manage them,” he said.
Considering that Tasikmalaya City often struggles with hosting large events such as music concerts, taking over the former Cilembang terminal would be highly beneficial for the city. “Event organizers would have no trouble finding a venue and the government could gain extra income,” he remarked.
Regarding the plan for the former regional government building to become a parking area managed by the regency, it would still contribute to the city, albeit not at maximum level. “The profit from revenue would go to the regency, with the city only receiving tax income,” he stated.
He agreed with H. Syarif Hidayat’s comments about the favorable political climate, where regional leaders, the DPRD, the Governor, and the President share the same political party. “This situation will facilitate communication between the regency, city, province, and central governments,” he said.
Therefore, his side urges Tasikmalaya Mayor Viman Alfarizi Ramadhan to seize this major opportunity and secure management rights over those assets. If successful, it would demonstrate to the public his capability as a regional leader. “The mayor is good at seizing opportunities, so this chance must be pursued until it’s achieved,” he said.
