TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The city government of Tasikmalaya, together with Bank Indonesia, continues to promote the digitalization of financial transactions. One of the initiatives is the Riung QRIS Tasikmalaya Festival, held at Mall Asia Plaza on Saturday (15/8/2026).
The event is part of the 2026 National QRIS Week and also celebrates the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office in Tasikmalaya, Laura Rulida Eka Sari P, stated that QRIS usage in the Tasikmalaya area continues to grow. This is evident from the widening adoption and increased transactions using the digital payment method.
An LPG truck crashed in Pangandaran, causing gas canisters to scatter on the road and resulting in the driver’s death. Former Tasikmalaya mayor speaks on PAD potential, stating Dadaha parking revenue could reach 500 million.
“In Tasikmalaya city, there are approximately 362 thousand merchants, while in the East Priangan region, the number reaches 1.39 million merchants,” said Laura during the event.
She believes that Tasikmalaya city is one of the centers for developing the QRIS ecosystem. However, the future challenge is not only to expand its usage but also to ensure that digital transactions are high-quality, secure, comfortable, and provide tangible benefits to the community.
During the Riung QRIS Festival, the inauguration of several digital services supporting the Tasik Melayani flagship program of the Tasikmalaya city government also took place.
These include digitalizing payments for Rural and Urban Land and Building Tax (PBB-P2), SIMARET for market retributions, and SINATRIA for parking payment digitalization.
Furthermore, Mall Asia Plaza is prepared to implement QRIS Tap, enabling the public to conduct transactions more easily and efficiently.
Digitalization also targets Islamic boarding schools through the QRIS Ummat program, which has been developed in collaboration with three pesantrens: Ponpes Al Kautsar, Ponpes Raudlatul Irfan, and Ponpes Al Idrisiyyah.
The QRIS Ummat program is intended to support the digitalization of zakat, alms, and donations (ZIS) payments, as well as pesantren business units and student tuition fees.

Meanwhile, Tasikmalaya Mayor Viman Alfarizi Ramadhan stated that QRIS is one of Indonesia’s economic strengths, as it is a digital payment instrument created by the nation’s children.
He believes that strengthening the digital payment system is also part of the effort to build national economic sovereignty.
“QRIS is one of Indonesia’s economic strengths,” Viman said.
He added that this spirit aligns with the theme of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day. Economic sovereignty, he said, needs to be built through various instruments, including the utilization of technology in financial transactions.
