The Cat and the Dragon (Neko to Ryu) has secured a second TV anime season, slated to premiere in 2027. The news arrived after the first season’s finale, which aired on September 19, 2026.
An announcement trailer for Season 2 was released together with celebratory art from the director and character designers. The series’ creator, Amara, the light‑novel illustrator Mai Okuma, and the manga artist Izumi Sasaki all posted messages marking the continuation.
Studio OLM handled the animation, directed by Jin‑Koo Oh, with a script by Mitsutaka Hirota, character designs by Rie Nishino and Chiaki Kurakazu, and music by Takahiro Obata. The voice cast includes:
- Takehito Koyasu as Nekoryu
- Kikuko Inoue as Mama‑nyan
- Fuka Izumi as Shirotae
- Show Hayami as Kurobane
- Noriaki Sugiyama as Haibuchi
- Maki Kawase as Chiikuro
- Shinnosuke Tokudome as Kurotama
The series is based on a light novel written by Amara and illustrated by Mai Okuma. It originally appeared as a web serial on Shosetsuka ni Naro from September 2013 to June 2014, was later printed by Takarajimasha beginning in April 2016, and also features a manga adaptation by Izumi Sasaki.
