Thecuy.com – The series of CustoMAXI 2026 modification contests has visited five major cities across Indonesia and is now set to head to the grand final at Indonesia Motorcycle Show (IMOS) 2026, held at ICE BSD, Tangerang, at the end of this November. This event showcases the best creations from MAXI Yamaha scooter users, including the Yamaha Xmax, featuring unique and diverse concepts.
Over a period of more than two months, CustoMAXI 2026 was held in Semarang, Bandung, Makassar, Bali, and Pekanbaru. In each city, winners were selected in the Master MAXI and Super MAXI categories, who will then compete again in the final round to claim the Best of the Best title.
Semarang showcases an Xmax styled as a drag race bike
The opening city, Semarang, recorded the highest number of participants, with over 100 contestants. One of the most notable entries came from Udin El, who presented the only Xmax with a drag race style in the Master MAXI category.
The modifications to the motorcycle were carried out extremely, replacing the entire frame with titanium material. As a result, the large Xmax body became slimmer and resembled a drag bike. This concept and daring experimentation earned Udin El the Master MAXI victory and secured his place in the grand final.
Bandung features technology-heavy modifications
Bandung was one of the series with the toughest competition. Participants brought creations that stood out not only in terms of appearance but also in technical complexity.
One highlight was the Batman-themed Xmax by MWM Motorworks, which emerged as the Master MAXI category winner. This bike showcased a futuristic look with strong modification details. The creation had previously been entered in a modification competition in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Makassar combines technical exploration with local identity
In Makassar, the Xmax owned by Haji Usman Vhendrank from Pangkep won the Super MAXI category. This bike was the only entry to use a single front fork configuration at the front.
Local character was also highlighted through airbrush paintings featuring Sultan Hasanuddin and the Rooster of the East symbol on the front of the bike. The combination of technical modifications and regional cultural elements made this creation stand out among other participants.
Bali blends advanced technology with traditional art
CustoMAXI’s return to Bali after seven years produced works that merged technology and art. Several participants applied motorized systems that allowed the windshield, seat, suspension, and audio equipment to be operated via a PlayStation controller or mobile phone.
One work that caught attention was the Xmax owned by Putu Mona Prabawa Putra, winner of the Super MAXI category. The bike was equipped with a fingerprint authentication system and an RFID reader that used an E-KTP to activate the engine. Several components could also be controlled via voice commands from a smartwatch.
In terms of appearance, Balinese cultural elements were present through airbrush paintings themed around traditional dance, barong, and other local art forms. As a result, the Bali series offered a strong combination of innovation and cultural expression.
Pekanbaru stands out with airbrush art on the Nmax
The final regional series in Pekanbaru showcased dominance by participants using the Nmax. Their number was the highest compared to other cities in the CustoMAXI 2026 series.
Airbrush work was the main attraction, with neat execution, strong color composition, and dynamic design lines. From this series, it became clear that the Nmax also serves as a broad medium for user expression.
Heading to the grand final at IMOS 2026
All regional winners will reunite at the grand final of CustoMAXI 2026, held at the Yamaha booth during IMOS 2026. In total, there will be 10 finalists from five cities competing in the Master MAXI and Super MAXI categories.
This ultimate round will determine the Best of the Best title in each class. Besides being a showcase of creativity, the grand final also has the potential to provide new inspiration for the development of MAXI Yamaha scooter modifications in Indonesia.
