The Cat and the Dragon (Neko to Ryu) will have another TV season, slated for 2027. The news was revealed after the finale of season one, which aired on September 19, 2026.
An announcement trailer for Season 2 dropped together with festive art from the director and designers. The series’ creator Amara, illustrator Mai Okuma, and manga artist Izumi Sasaki each posted greetings about the new season.
The animation was produced by Studio OLM, directed by Jin‑Koo Oh, scripted by Mitsutaka Hirota, with character designs by Rie Nishino and Chiaki Kurakazu, and music composed by Takahiro Obata. The voice cast features:
- Takehito Koyasu as Nekoryu
- Kikuko Inoue as Mama-nyan
- Fuka Izumi as Shirotae
- Show Hayami as Kurobane
- Noriaki Sugiyama as Haibuchi
- Maki Kawase as Chiikuro
- Shinnosuke Tokudome as Kurotama
This series originates from a light novel penned by Amara and illustrated by Mai Okuma. It began as a web serial on Shosetsuka ni Naro between September 2013 and June 2014, before being published in print by Takarajimasha in April 2016. Additionally, Izumi Sasaki has created a manga version.
