PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com–The weekend is always a key moment for tourism, including in Pangandaran, which always experiences a surge. However, the government wants to maximize tourist visits during weekdays, especially at Batuhiu and Karapyak beaches, which are relatively quiet except on weekends.
The Head of the Pangandaran Department of Tourism and Culture (Disparbud), Dadan Sugistha, stated that there is indeed a gap between weekday and weekend visits.
“Currently, Pangandaran’s tourism becomes busy as the weekend approaches from Friday to Saturday, while weekdays stay calm; that’s how it is,” he told Radar when reached on Friday (18/9/2026).

According to him, efforts are being made to spread visits and attract tourists outside of long holidays, including through various activities. “We also aim for weekday visits to be at least 10-30 percent of weekend numbers,” he said.
However, for Pangandaran Beach itself, tourist visits are considered stable, according to Dadan. “The main challenge is that Batuhiu and Karapyak beaches are very quiet during weekdays,” he said.
Various activities are now being intensified at tourist sites that are typically quiet during regular weekdays.
This is experienced by Batuhiu trader Neni (40), who usually gets many customers only on weekends. “On regular days there are also buyers, but very few,” she explained in a brief message.
She also hopes that the government will make efforts to attract more tourists, not only during weekdays. (Deni Nurdiansah)
