PMI was formed after President Soekarno appointed Dr. Buntaran as Minister of Health to create the National Red Cross Agency, making PMI one of Indonesia’s oldest humanitarian institutions. As a city-level branch, PMI Kota Magelang carries out its humanitarian mission in an area known for its strategic location on the main Semarang–Yogyakarta route and is also one of the oldest administrative cities in Central Java.
PMI Kota Magelang actively participates in humanitarian services, ranging from disaster management and blood donation to training volunteers and the Young Red Cross (PMR) within the city. Located at Jl. Pahlawan No. 84, Kota Magelang, the organization regularly invites community members to join, both as administrative staff and humanitarian volunteers, to support PMI’s city-level operations and social programs.
