PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com – Former two-term Pangandaran Regent, Jeje Wiradinata, voiced criticism regarding the development direction and social sensitivity of the Pangandaran District Government.

He cautioned the local government not to lose focus on priorities while residents are still struggling with fundamental issues, ranging from clean water shortages to delayed financial obligations to villages.

Jeje presented this assessment before members of the DPRD and several community leaders on Saturday (31/10/2026).

Rather than just commenting on policies, he urged the local government to evaluate performance based on political promises already outlined in the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD).

According to Jeje, development success should not be judged solely based on perception or one-sided claims.

There is a planning document that serves as a benchmark and binds the regional head’s commitment for five years.

He mentioned that at least 14 regent campaign promises have been incorporated into the RPJMD.

All of them need to be tested through actual implementation, especially the commitment to make Pangandaran a world-class tourist destination supported by religious education and community character strengthening.

Jeje also emphasized the importance of maintaining continuity in development.

He compared the current situation with several infrastructure foundations built during his two terms leading Pangandaran.

He revealed that during the early formation of the district, the local government successfully completed asphalt paving and repair of district roads stretching 544.18 kilometers.

In addition, a 101-kilometer coastal road route was built to help alleviate congestion in the tourist area.

In the connectivity sector, seven bridges were also successfully built. Meanwhile, in the health sector, the establishment of the regional general hospital became one of the strategic projects advocated through communication with the provincial government up to the central government.

“Amid budget constraints at the beginning of the district’s formation, the government at that time moved quickly to complete various strategic projects,” he said.

Jeje considered that the community’s basic infrastructure needs essentially already have a foundation.

Therefore, the current government needs more flexibility in directing the budget to continue development.

He even estimated that if not burdened by debt issues, a budget of around Rp52 billion would be sufficient to support the improvement of village roads stretching 20 kilometers each year.
