Magical Explorer: Reborn as a Side Character in a Fantasy Dating Sim is a Japanese light novel series penned by Iris and illustrated by Noboru Kannatsuki. Its online debut occurred in February 2018, and Kadokawa Shoten began releasing it in print in November 2019. A manga adaptation illustrated by Yukari Higa launched its serialization on Young Ace Up in August 2020.
Yen Press has secured English licensing for both the novel and the manga, offering the following description for the book:
Few works are as celebrated by fans of Japanese adult video games as Magical Explorer. One day, a lewd‑enthusiast hero awakens to discover he has been reborn as the game’s handsome main character—well, actually as his comical best friend, Kosuke Takioto. Armed with his deep knowledge of the game world and Kosuke’s bizarre skills (including a scarf that can serve as a fist), he vows to transform the hapless loser into the ultimate heartthrob. In this realm, nothing is out of reach when you have the right know‑how!
