Magical Explorer: Reborn as a Side Character in a Fantasy Dating Sim is a Japanese light‑novel series penned by Iris and illustrated by Noboru Kannatsuki. It debuted online in February 2018 before Kadokawa Shoten launched its print publication in November 2019. A manga adaptation illustrated by Yukari Higa began serialization in Young Ace Up in August 2020.
Yen Press has secured the English licensing for both the light novel and the manga, offering this description for the former:
Among aficionados of Japanese erotic video games, few titles command as much reverence as Magical Explorer. One day, our lecherous protagonist awakens to find himself reincarnated as the game’s ultimate heartthrob—or rather, its hapless comic‑relief sidekick, Kosuke Takioto. Armed with intimate knowledge of the game and Kosuke’s unconventional abilities (a scarf that doubles as a fist?), our hero vows to transform the series’ unluckiest loser into its most desirable star. In this realm, nothing is beyond reach when you possess the right know‑how!
