BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity has postponed episodes 49 and 50 to October 2026, citing the need to boost quality as the series nears its finale. The show had already adjusted its broadcast lineup across multiple Japanese streaming platforms.
Episode 49, identified as the ninth installment of The Calamity, will debut on TV Tokyo on October 19, with a broadcast on BS TV Tokyo the following day, October 20. It will also become available on various streaming services on October 20. Episode 50, the tenth part of The Calamity, will air on TV Tokyo a week later, on October 26, and on BS TV Tokyo on October 27.
The revised timetable is:
- Episode 49: October 19
- Episode 50: October 26
Pending the return of Episode 49 to continue the main storyline, TV Tokyo will present selected climax episodes of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War on September 19, September 26, October 5, and October 12. These highlighted episodes are:
- September 19 – Episode 7 titled “BORN IN THE DARK”
- September 26 – Episode 28 titled “KILL THE KING”
- October 5 – Episode 46 titled “THE END”
- October 12 – Episode 48 titled “THE END TWO WORLD”
The production committee explained that the delay was instituted to incorporate extra refinements as the narrative approaches its climax and to ensure the remaining episodes are delivered in the highest possible quality. The creative team also expressed apologies to fans for the postponement and confirmed that work will continue toward finalizing the BLEACH anime series.
The series, created by Tite Kubo, was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2001 through 2016, concluding with 74 volumes. It has sold over 130 million copies worldwide, establishing it as one of the best‑selling manga franchises of all time.
The initial television adaptation ran from 2004 to 2012 and was accompanied by four theatrical movies. The franchise made a comeback in 2022 with BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War, which adapts the manga’s final arc. The last segment, designated Part 4, is slated for a July release, and Tite Kubo has indicated that it will feature additional original material beyond earlier instalments, broadening the scope of the concluding battles.
In related news, BLEACH: Mirrors High initiated pre‑registrations last month and is set to launch in 2026.
