TASIKMALAYA, RadarTasik News – A crackdown on street vendors (PKL) at the jogging track within the Dadaha Sports Complex in Tasikmalaya city has begun to affect traders’ economic activity. Several vendors say they have lost a key spot to earn a living after being banned from selling there.

One vendor, named Asep, says he has not sold anything for over ten days because his usual spot, which he has used to earn a living, is now off‑limits for trading.

“I have not been selling for over ten days because I have no place to set up shop since the ban. We can’t just sell anywhere,” Asep said.

In his view, the halt of his selling activity has directly resulted in a loss of income. Similar circumstances are experienced by other traders who have shifted to less‑strategic locations to continue selling.

Asep said the government has indeed offered several alternative spots for vendors. Nevertheless, he feels the proposed sites are not yet a full solution because they are too cramped to accommodate traders adequately.

Much like the GOR area, which vendors say has long been used for parking, this situation makes it hard for them to turn the place into a permanent trading spot.

“The site is not only cramped, and the one close to the GOR is always used for parking,” he said.

He also touched on the shelter that was proposed as an alternative. In his opinion, the shelter’s condition is not yet suitable for trading because it has mostly been used as a storage area.

“When it comes to the shelter, the conditions are not conducive for selling because it has been used as a warehouse,” he said.

Asep hopes that, until a proper and definite relocation site is available, they can still be allowed to sell at the jogging track, especially on Saturdays and Sundays.

“At the very least, we could sell on Saturdays and Sundays,” he said.

He also questioned why the jogging track area must be completely cleared of traders on the grounds that it is intended for sports.
