TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Kota Tasikmalaya is once again troubled by the problem of motorcycle gangs.

This time, it is not the sound of exhaust pipes that draws attention, but the voices of students and youths demanding that authorities and the government not only act after victims have fallen.

Dozens of students and youths belonging to the Cipayung Plus Alliance of Tasikmalaya City and the Poros Pelajar took to the streets on Tuesday afternoon (8/9/2026).

Agus Nugraha leads the Gapensi organization in Tasikmalaya City, focusing on regeneration and professionalism as priorities; meanwhile, the Tasikmalaya City Government will adjust employees’ working hours, making them start earlier.

They staged demonstrations at two locations, namely the Tasikmalaya City Police Headquarters and the Tasikmalaya City DPRD Building.

Until 21:21 WIB, the crowd remained at the entrance of the Tasikmalaya City DPRD Building.

The protest was a response to growing concern over the resurgence of violent incidents involving motorcycle gangs in Tasikmalaya City.

Moreover, recent street violence has claimed the lives of residents.

Various student and youth organizations also joined the demonstration, including PMII, KAMMI, and IPNU.

However, this demonstration was not merely about taking to the streets with posters and loudspeakers.

The demonstrators presented ten main demands directed at three key policymakers: the Mayor of Tasikmalaya, the Speaker of the Tasikmalaya City DPRD, and the Chief of Police of Tasikmalaya City.

The main perpetrator of a case involving a teenager’s death in Tasikmalaya, killed by a motorcycle gang, was found to be underage; meanwhile, those still waiting for electric becaks can register on a waiting list, with the government stating that recipients are not linked to desil.

The Field Coordinator of the Action, Teni Ramdani, believes that the security issues in Tasikmalaya City can no longer be addressed through a reactive approach.

According to him, the government and the police should take preventive measures before violent incidents occur, not only act after victims have been harmed.

The criticism was openly directed at the Tasikmalaya City Police.

Teni highlighted the police patrols, which he said were only carried out several days after the loss of life.

“The death of a resident on September 2 prompted the Tasikmalaya City Police to conduct patrols only three days later. What preventive steps were taken before that?” Teni emphasized to reporters during the demonstration in front of the Tasikmalaya City Police Headquarters.

He questioned the extent of police anticipatory measures prior to the incident.

“We believe the Chief of Police does not understand the situation and conditions in Tasikmalaya City,” he explained.

For the demonstrators, the problem of motorcycle gangs cannot be taken lightly anymore.

Street violence that could result in fatalities is now considered a serious issue requiring cross-sectoral handling.
