PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com -The impact of the prolonged dry season in Pangandaran Regency has caused water sources in several settlements to become increasingly turbid. This condition makes it difficult for residents to meet their consumption needs for drinking and cooking.
After nearly four months without rain, a clean water crisis has hit Dusun Cihideung, Ciganjeng Village, Padaherang District.
Residents’ wells, which are increasingly drying up, now only produce golden yellow water. Due to the poor water quality, people are reluctant to use it for consumption.
Reorganization of Dadaha in Tasikmalaya city considered unrealistic; the mayor persists with plans to reorganize the area despite the continued presence of street vendors.
The well water must be filtered multiple times before it can be used for bathing and cleaning kitchen utensils.
One resident, Rasini, said that the need for drinking and cooking water must be met by buying bottled water, which adds to the financial burden of the community.
“For washing clothes we also turn to the Ciseel River. Every morning and evening, we residents go to the river, which is also starting to dry up, to use the remaining puddles of water,” he told reporters on Tuesday (8/9/2026).
He said that the change in water color and the decline in well water levels have been occurring for the past two months. “We are concerned that the water source will be completely exhausted if the dry season continues,” he explained.
Another resident, Karno, said that the well water in his area is no longer safe for consumption and he hopes for swift action from the relevant authorities.
“The residents here greatly hope for a supply of clean water from the village government and the Pangandaran Regency administration to support daily essential needs until the rainy season arrives,” he said. (Deni Nurdiansah)
