TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com–The call for Village/Neighborhood Red White Cooperative (KDKMP) has been ongoing for a long time from the central government. Yet, in Tasikmalaya, the built outlets have still not started operating.

Based on data from the Tasikmalaya City Small and Medium Enterprises and Industry Service, KDKMP is already organized in 69 districts. Out of these, 15 have already constructed their outlets.

The head of the Tasikmalaya City Small and Medium Enterprises and Industry Service, Sofian Zaenal Mutaqin, stated that KDKMP in the city is administratively functional. However, in practice, no outlet is operating yet. ‘The cooperative is active, but there is still no outlet that has opened,’ he said to Radar on Thursday (22/10/2026).

He clarified that such implementation cannot be done instantly; it demands a non‑trivial process. Prior to launching the outlet, the administrators must comprehend the forthcoming procedures. ‘Hence, initial socialization and education are essential,’ he noted.

It ties to the central government’s plan to use KDKMP for distributing subsidized items. Recent reports also suggest that the cooperative might handle civil servant salary payments. ‘We still lack clear information on that matter,’ he added.

Furthermore, running an outlet inevitably involves a sizable capital investment. His office has not yet decided if there will be seed funding from the government or if it must rely solely on members’ dues. ‘Bekasi receives regional government support, yet for Tasikmalaya City such support appears not yet possible,’ he remarked.

Debate arose over the removal of compulsory membership fees in KDKMP’s operations, especially as membership is set to include every resident in each village. His side stressed that this reflects a core cooperative tenet: ‘of the members, by the members, for the members.’ ‘Absent member fees, the operation would stray from that principle,’ he asserted.

When queried about managers appointed for the cooperatives by the government, he noted that 22 have been assigned in Tasikmalaya City so far. This situation causes some confusion as it does not yet align with the number of existing outlets and cooperatives. ‘We continue to move forward; the challenges encountered are merely part of the ongoing process,’ he commented.
