The Oh Boy, I Was Wrong About Her Light Novel Has Ended

Yu Hibari and illustrator Shiso’s romantic comedy light novel, titled Oh Boy, I Was Wrong About Her, has concluded. Kadokawa Shoten released the series’ final, eleventh volume on July 31.

Yu Hibari first posted the story on the user‑generated website Shosetsuka ni Naro using the lengthy Japanese title Tenkou-saki no Seiso Karen na Bishoujo ga, Mukashi Danshi to Omotte Issho ni Asonda Osananajimi Datta Ken. The web version ran from June 2020 through July 2026. Kadokawa Shoten acquired the rights to the work, now known as Oh Boy, I Was Wrong About Her, in 2021. The publisher then began issuing the series as a printed light novel, illustrated by Shiso, with the first volume appearing in February 2021.

In 2021, Kina Oyama turned the light novel Oh Boy, I Was Wrong About Her into a manga. Fujimi Shobo, a division of Kadokawa, released it under the Dra Dra Flat imprint from September 2021 to June 2025. Kadokawa collected the chapters into seven tankōbon volumes. The anime adaptation, produced by Project No. 9, is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.

Country life offers limited entertainment. In the isolated village, the only pursuits are insect collecting, herding goats, and hanging out with peers your age. Hayato Kirishima spent his youth doing exactly that, sharing a calm existence with his childhood friend Haruki Nikaido. As boys of similar age, they were inseparable, each completing the other. When Haruki moved away, Hayato wandered the countryside alone. Years later, after his family relocated to an urban area, Hayato reconnected with Haruki. What stunned him most was not the reunion itself, but the revelation that Haruki was a girl—and an attractive one at that!
