In response to the Mekarwangi Village Government’s letter No. 043/000.1.9/DS/2026 dated 22 July 2026, the PGRI leadership decided to stay put in the building they have been using.

The Chairman of PGRI Tasikmalaya Regency, Unang Arifin, known as Gozim, stressed that differing views on asset status must not fracture the solidarity of the teachers’ organization.

In his view, the issue should be resolved through dialogue and deliberation, rather than through actions perceived as exerting pressure on PGRI.

“Diverse perspectives should not weaken unity. Through togetherness we are stronger in facing challenges. In principle, we fully support the Chairman of PC PGRI Cisayong in his effort to retain this asset,” he said.

He explained that the problem began about eight months ago when the Mekarwangi Village Government met with the PGRI Cisayong board to synchronise village asset data.

At that time, the discussion was limited to data collection, leading his side to believe the matter was settled. Therefore, he said he was surprised that the process culminated in a request to evacuate the building.

According to Gozim, his side only learned of the evacuation notice after receiving a report from the Chairman of PC PGRI Cisayong.
