About Date a Live
Koshi Tachibana penned the Date A Live novel series, which ran in Fujimi Shobo with Tsunako’s art from 2012 to 2020, spanning 22 volumes. The first TV anime adaptation launched in 2013, animated by AIC PLUS+ and directed by Keitaro Motonaga. Later seasons were handled by various studios such as Production IMS, J.C. Staff, and GEEKTOYS, the latter two bringing forth the final two seasons.
Kurumi Togisaki claimed the Spring 2024 Best Girl title, while Tohka placed seventh. Date a Live V also scooped the Spring 2024 accolades for both its opening and ending themes, best ship/couple, best boy, and the leading voice actor award.
Yen Press releases the Date A Live light novels in English, and Crunchyroll streams the anime series. The premise follows an ordinary high school student named Shido who stumbles upon a mysterious girl at the epicenter of a recent spacequake. Through his sister Kotori, Shido discovers that the girl is a Spirit—a mystical entity behind the spacequakes. He is recruited to “seal” these Spirits and halt their menace to humanity, but there’s a twist: the sole method to seal a Spirit is to make her fall in love with him.
