
CIAMIS, Thecuy.com – Pemerintah Kabupaten Ciamis terus mempromosikan nationalist spirit as part of celebrating the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. One initiative undertaken is encouraging citizens to hoist the Red and White Flag simultaneously from 1 to 31 August 2026.
To support this initiative, the Ciamis Regency Agency for National Unity and Politics (Bakesbangpol) partnered with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to display a 12 x 18 meter Red and White Flag at the Ciamis Foodcourt Area on Monday (3/8/2026).
The Head of Bakesbangpol Ciamis Regency, R. Yadi Tisyadi, stated that the event is part of the 81st Independence Day commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia, also aiming to promote the Simultaneous Red and White Flag Raising Movement and support the Red and White Flag Distribution Movement which will be carried out throughout August 2026 in Ciamis Regency.

“The flag unfurling involved 32 BPBD staff, 35 Bakesbangpol personnel, and was supported by 10 retired members of the Ciamis Regency Paskibraka Indonesia (PPI),” he told Radar on Monday (3/8/2026).
“Furthermore, I, Regional Secretary Andang Firman Triyadi, and BPBD Head Ani Supiani, also took part in the flag unfurling,” he added.
Following the giant flag unfurling, the activity continued with raising a 3 x 4.5 meter Red and White Flag on two towers located in the Ciamis Alun-Alun area.
Yadi said the local government is committed to ensuring that the spirit of independence is felt across Ciamis Regency through the raising of the Red and White Flag throughout August.
“The Ciamis Regency Government will continue its efforts to ensure that the Red and White Flag flies over the skies of Tatar Galuh Ciamis throughout August,” he said.
He explained that the selection of Ciamis Alun-Alun as the flag display location holds special significance. As a central public space and one of Ciamis Regency’s icons, the location is expected to inspire public participation in enlivening the Independence Day celebration.
“He hoped that when people see this large red and white flag, eventually every house, office, school, shop, market, terminal, tourist spot and other public places could fly the red and white flag,” he said.
Islamic scholars and mass organizations visited the Tasikmalaya Regency DPRD, presenting an academic draft for the Family Resilience Bill. Tasikmalaya Regency Education and Culture Agency states that construction of a new classroom at SDN Kubangsari Taraju is not yet included in the plan
In addition to boosting nationalist spirit, the activity also engaged local business owners. The 12 x 18 meter Red and White Flag that was displayed was crafted by a tailor from Ciamis Regency.
