In urban corridors such as Jalan Bank and the Garut Station area, traffic congestion occurs frequently.

The Garut Regency Transportation Department continues to implement various measures to tackle the problem.

Encouraging Jalan Pamegatan-Singajaya in Garut to achieve provincial road status; the new Garut Market area will undergo renovation, with traders being temporarily relocated.

“The regent suggests tightening up parking enforcement, especially targeting illegal parking,” said Satria Budi, Head of the Garut Regency Transportation Department, on Friday, 31 July 2026.

He said his office, together with the traffic forum, has conducted a study and discussion on the issue of illegal parking in that area.

In the future, according to Satria Budi, signs prohibiting stopping will be installed on Jalan Bank.

“Ideally, Jalan Bank should be directed into PT KAI premises to prevent congestion, and signs will be placed beside the church,” he said.

Furthermore, on other streets such as Jalan Ibrahim Adjie, several spots do not permit stopping at the roadside. Hence, his office will install signs.

He explained that they only provide infrastructure like signs and information boards based on the findings of the traffic forum. “We only provide infrastructure based on the forum’s findings,” he said.

Previously, Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur highlighted that illegal parking remains a public complaint.
