Artist and illustrator Jim Rugg has produced a limited‑edition Astro Boy blacklight poster as part of the Kickstarter campaign for the upcoming documentary TEZUKA! God of Manga.

Measuring 18 by 24 inches, the print takes cues from 1970s psychedelic blacklight posters and showcases Osamu Tezuka’s Astro Boy. The same artwork can be purchased as a limited‑edition T‑shirt through the documentary’s Kickstarter campaign.

Rugg also added a ballpoint‑pen drawing of Astro Boy to the campaign.

Additional artists taking part are Shinichi Ishizuka, Dave Baker, Jorge R. Gutierrez, Jeff Lemire, Yuko Shimizu, Jesse Lonergan, Matt Kindt, Elsa Charretier, Gurihiru, and Nicole Goux. Their pieces draw from iconic characters and titles such as Black Jack, Phoenix, Princess Knight, Unico, and Vampires.

TEZUKA! God of Manga is directed by Jason Andrew Cohn and produced by Bread & Butter Films. The documentary will chart Tezuka’s life and career in three parts: his childhood and early manga dreams, his ascent in postwar Japan, the birth of the gekiga scene, and his later comeback with titles like Phoenix and Black Jack.

Interviewees include veteran creators and industry veterans such as Katsuhiro Otomo, Riyoko Ikeda, Naoki Urasawa, Go Nagai, Yoshiyuki Tomino, Masao Maruyama, and Rintaro.

TEZUKA! God of Manga is slated for release in 2028, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Osamu Tezuka’s birth, and is being financed via Kickstarter.
