A landslide struck Dusun Panguyuhan 1, Purwarahayu Village, Taraju District, on Friday (30/10/2026), tearing away the connecting road between hamlets and almost severing it. In response, residents worked together in an emergency effort to keep the route usable.

The disaster was triggered by heavy rain that began to soak Tasikmalaya Regency. The road’s severe erosion is feared to hamper mobility, especially economic activities and children’s access to school.

This route serves as an alternative for locals to transport agricultural produce and support daily life. If damage worsens and the road is blocked, residents’ movement could be disrupted.

Dozens of thousands of worshipers were absorbed in Tasikmalaya Bershalawat at Manonjaya Square; DPRD member Iyam Maryani urged strengthening child supervision, citing the Bantarkalong Tasikmalaya girl case as a cautionary example.

Seeing the situation, the local community took the initiative to carry out self‑help repairs. Residents collaborated to erect a temporary slope barrier in the landslide‑affected area, using readily available materials such as bamboo stakes and soil‑filled sacks. The aim was to restrain soil movement and prevent further road damage.

The head of the Panguyuhan Kapunduhan region, Iwan Cahyadi, said residents were urged to heighten vigilance as the rainy season set in, especially because the area is prone to landslides.

“The rainy season has arrived, so we, together with the community, will be on high alert to anticipate any unwanted incidents. Our area is indeed vulnerable to landslides, so vigilance must be continuously heightened,” he said.

Iwan stressed that the handling of the landslide‑affected road is currently being carried out self‑help because the access plays a vital role in people’s lives.

That road is an alternative route for residents to boost family economy. It also leads to school.

In addition to emergency response, he urged the people of Kampung Panguyuhan to be more attentive to environmental conditions, especially during prolonged heavy rainfall.

Residents are asked to immediately report to the village government if they notice signs of soil movement, such as cracks on the ground surface or slope shifting. This step is necessary to anticipate potential subsequent landslides early.

Mobile doctor from Gerindra visited Cineam Tasikmalaya, providing free treatment to hundreds of residents; When schools are no longer safe, RI DPR member Ahmad Doli Kurnia highlighted a bullying case that claimed a victim.

Through increased readiness and communal spirit, we hope the fatal risks of landslides can be minimized,” he concluded. (obi)
