TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Posyandu duties now extend beyond weighing toddlers, monitoring child development, or providing maternal health care.

In Tasikmalaya City, Posyandu has begun assuming a broader role, including helping to identify residents in need of adequate housing.

This role was evident during the inspection of the construction of non-decent housing (Rutilahu) in Cikalang Village on Tuesday (3/11/2026).

Tasikmalaya Mayor Viman Alfarizi Ramadhan, together with the city’s Posyandu TP Chairperson, dr. Elvira Kamarrow Putri, personally verified that the home improvement assistance is being provided according to beneficiaries’ needs.

The inspection was a follow-up to reports and verification results from the Posyandu.

The government aims to ensure that aid is not merely recorded in program lists, but truly brings about change for those in need.

Viman stated that Posyandu now bears a broader responsibility as the primary implementer of six Minimum Service Standards (SPM).

Its scope encompasses education, health, public works, public housing, public order and comfort, community protection, and social welfare.

One implementation is identifying community issues at the regional level.

“This includes finding residents still living in substandard houses that require government intervention,” Viman said.

In Tasikmalaya City, 827 units of home repair assistance have been allocated by the central government through the Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) program.

Nevertheless, for the government, the work does not end with the distribution of assistance.

“The quality of construction results must also be ensured so that the repaired houses truly meet decent housing standards,” Viman emphasized.

During the inspection, Viman examined various building aspects, including air circulation, sanitation, lighting, structural strength, and roof condition.

“These factors are crucial for ensuring that houses are safe, healthy, and comfortable to inhabit,” he added.

In addition to the physical condition of buildings, the government also monitors the accuracy of beneficiary data.

Verification results show that beneficiaries fall within the welfare decile groups 1 and 2.

Checks also include the activation of social assistance for beneficiaries still requiring further action.

Thus, government intervention not only addresses housing needs but also strives to strengthen social protection for the community.
