Thecuy.com, Madiun – Police uncovered digital evidence on Dwi Bagus Martono’s mobile phone that allegedly pointed to a plot to kill his wife’s surrogate, Dini Hardiyanti (30), and his stepson, AGEF (4), in Madiun. The evidence was gathered through forensic analysis of electronic devices, covering internet searches and WhatsApp conversations.

The Director of Criminal Investigation of East Java Police, Major General Roy H M Sihombing, stated that investigators detected signs that the intent to murder had been present well ahead of the event. Nonetheless, he emphasized that the evidence is still under deeper scrutiny alongside other collected case materials.

Finds from the suspect’s phone

Roy explained that the investigators uncovered multiple digital items suggesting preparation for an act of aggression. In addition to browsing records, authorities reviewed messaging app dialogues thought to involve the suspect’s search for means to carry out the killing.

β€œWhen it comes to the motive, we have gathered several clues indicating that the incident stemmed from earlier disputes. Moreover, our on-site investigation, backed by electronic data from the suspect’s mobile phone, shows that he had previously contemplated committing murder,” Roy added.

He continued that these findings alone did not constitute the investigators’ final judgment. Officers continued to corroborate the digital data with testimonies from witnesses, pre-reconstruction results, and forensic observations collected at the crime scene.

Initial chronology of the case

The investigation started after Dini Hardiyanti and her son were reported missing on 20 September 2026. According to case files compiled by detectives, Dwi and Dini had intended to mark AGEF’s birthday at the Telaga Sarangan resort in Magetan.

While en route, Dwi allegedly got a call from his lawful wife asking for a pickup. He then postponed the visit to Telaga Sarangan and registered at a hotel in Madiun. Later, he told Dini he needed to head back home temporarily to inspect his vehicle.

The following day, Dwi went to Dini’s hotel room and explained that he needed to balance his schedule between his wife and Dini. Their dialogue escalated into a heated dispute, during which Dini requested to be taken back to her family, claiming that Dwi had ceased loving her.

According to police, the argument turned violent, leading to Dini’s fatal injury. The suspect then killed AGEF. The corpses were hidden, relocated, incinerated, dismembered, and finally abandoned.

Investigation and forensic results

East Java Police reported that they interviewed roughly 16 witnesses and performed a pre-reconstruction to clarify the timeline. Additionally, forensic experts analyzed bone fragments discovered at the crime scene in a laboratory.

DNA analysis indicated that the bone pieces matched the victim’s family DNA, identifying a female and a male child. This corroborates the belief that the recovered items belong to the two reported missing individuals.

Officers continue to probe the underlying motive, the suspect’s involvement, and the events preceding and following the homicide. Digital evidence, witness testimonies, and forensic data will play a pivotal role in advancing the investigation.

As a result of his deeds, Dwi faces charges under Article 76C combined with Article 80(3) of the Child Protection Act No. 35/2014, and also under Article 459 in conjunction with Articles 458 and 466(3) of the Criminal Code Law No. 1/2023. The potential sentence carries a maximum of capital punishment.

Law enforcement officials stressed that the judicial proceedings remain in progress, with every piece of evidence being cross-checked to build a comprehensive picture of what transpired.
