Thecuy.com, Serang – The Serang City Government, through the Regional Investment Board and One Stop Integrated Services (DPMPTSP), reinforces business licensing and investment promotion. This aims to make doing business in the area more accessible and streamlined. A key approach is the Serang One Stop Services (SOSS), integrated with Public Service Mall (MPP) facilities and the Online Single Submission (OSS) system.

These efforts are designed to foster a more business‑friendly environment while showcasing Serang’s economic potential to prospective investors. The city is seen as offering diverse opportunities, ranging from trade activities and urban community services to its role as the capital of Banten Province.

Licensing Services Made More Integrated

Serang City’s Head of DPMPTSP, Dulbarid, explained that the enhanced services and investment promotion are intended to raise awareness of the region’s potential among entrepreneurs. Through SOSS, the city strives to unify licensing requirements and provide clearer information for investors.

To support these integrated services, the Serang City Government has established a Public Service Mall located at Jalan Mayor Syafei No. 3, Kotabaru, Serang City. This MPP consolidates various licensing and public administrative services under one roof, operating Monday to Friday from 08.00 to 15.00 WIB.

Besides face‑to‑face assistance, business licensing is also facilitated by the OSS system, in line with current regulations. This electronic platform helps entrepreneurs obtain permits in a more organized manner, taking into account the type of business activity and its associated risk level.

Several Sectors Considered Promising

Based on market demand in Serang City, certain sectors are viewed as fertile ground for business expansion. The trade and distribution sector, for instance, is driven by government activities and the everyday needs of urban residents.

Additional opportunities arise in the culinary and hospitality sectors, fueled by community events, business travel, governmental activities, and visitors from various regions. Meanwhile, service and creative economy sectors can thrive through professional services, digital solutions, and creative industries.

Education, health, and supporting services are also highlighted as promising, given the growing needs of the population. The local government emphasizes the potential for developing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly through partnerships with local suppliers and supporting businesses.

Investment Directed to Open Economic Opportunities

The Serang City Government views investment as a cornerstone for expanding the region’s economic activities. Investor presence is expected to boost labor demand, create openings for local suppliers, and stimulate ancillary businesses in surrounding areas.

Nonetheless, prospective investors should still conduct a feasibility study, verify spatial compatibility, calculate operational costs, evaluate competition levels, and confirm the legality of permits before launching a venture. Permit processing time continues to vary based on permit type and the completeness of submitted requirements.

Serang City’s DPMPTSP also extends investment promotion through national forums, such as the XVIII APEKSI National Working Meeting 2026 in Medan. Additionally, the local government is finalizing an Investment Project Ready to Offer (IPRO) document to enhance its investment opportunity portfolio.

By strengthening SOSS, MPP, OSS, and investment promotion initiatives, the Serang City Government aims to make the local business environment more accessible and attractive for entrepreneurs. Concurrently, the economic benefits of these investments are expected to reach a broader segment of the community.
