TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com—Following the implementation of the Free Nutritious Food (MBG) program for students, schools have been assigned additional technical roles to contribute to its execution. However, this should not lead to the primary responsibilities of schools being overlooked or disregarded.

Kepler Sianturi, a member of the PDI Perjuangan faction in the Tasikmalaya City DPRD, believes that the MBG program has had some impact on educational services in schools. This issue requires the principal’s attention to ensure that the main responsibilities of educational institutions are not neglected.

“I received reports about several issues at the school that need to be evaluated,” he told Radar on Wednesday (7/10/2026).

One of the complaints he received was about toilet cleanliness in a particular school. Upon inspection, it was found that the cleaning staff were too busy managing the MBG distribution for students.

“In one school, parents complained about the toilet smell, and after checking, it turned out that the cleaning staff were busy and tired because they were also handling MBG distribution,” he said.

According to him, the cleaning staff issue is just a simple example of the need for improved management in schools. When cleaning staff’s work is disrupted, similar effects are likely to occur for teachers involved in MBG distribution. “Many teachers are also busy managing MBG distribution,” he explained.

In terms of regulations, schools already have designated teachers assigned as PICs for MBG distribution. This assignment should not become a mere formality that negatively impacts school management.

“There are already assigned individuals, so it should not be an excuse to help but neglect main responsibilities, especially to ensure incentives are distributed,” he said.

This situation certainly needs to be addressed and evaluated by school principals and the Tasikmalaya City Education Office. The MBG program should run without compromising the school’s main services. “There needs to be improvement and supervision of school management to ensure that educational services are not disrupted due to MBG,” he said.

Kepler emphasized that he is not against the MBG program, but schools must still fulfill their primary duties. “This includes teaching and learning activities, as well as facility maintenance in schools,” he added.(Rangga Jatnika)
