TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – A heap of waste remains in the Cikalang River flow, on Jalan HZ Mustofa, close to Tugu Asmaul Husna, Tasikmalaya City. This situation draws concern as the area is one of the spots prone to flooding before the rainy season.
Several officers took action to clean up. They were even seen entering a narrow drainage tunnel to reach parts of the channel that were hard to clean from the outside.
In addition to trash, officers discovered infrastructure crossing the river flow. The presence of this infrastructure was considered a factor that made it easy for waste to get caught and potentially block water flow.

“We have another problem, related to infrastructure crossing and causing blockage of waste in the river flow. This must be resolved immediately,” said the Head of Water Resources (SDA) Department of the Tasikmalaya City PUTR Service, Rino Isa Muharam, at the location on Wednesday (30/9/2026).
Rino explained that the normalization and cleaning process itself had not covered all targeted parts. His side mentioned that only half of the section had been successfully handled.
“We have only done half, there is still another half as our homework, it will continue tomorrow,” said Rino.
He said his side also could not yet confirm where the piled waste came from. “We don’t know the indication of where the trash was thrown,” he said.
In addition, his side also carried out monitoring of several points that had previously been prone to flooding. The inspection was carried out to identify various obstacles in the river flow before rain with high intensity occurs.
“There is also checking or monitoring at points that usually become water pools, related to obstacles in our river flow that we identified,” he said.
According to Rino, the step is part of preparation to face the rainy season. Moreover, the cleaning location is one of the points that often becomes a center of puddles.

“This is an anticipation ahead of the rainy season, because this location has become the central point of puddles and considerable waste was observed in this channel,” said Rino.
This activity, he said, started from a request by Kelurahan Nagarawangi to conduct a gotong royong to clean the Cikalang River flow. The handling was then carried out across agencies.
