The series “Though I Am an Inept Villainess” unveiled an epilogue illustration showcasing protagonists Kou Reirin and Shu Keigetsu. A second season has been announced to launch in January 2027.
The upcoming cour’s plot summary is as follows:
Thanks to Reirin and Keigetsu’s efforts, the unrest sparked by a curse within the inner court has calmed. After their body swap, the two learned more about each other’s personalities, and a bond of friendship started to form.
As the seasons change, it’s now early autumn. The ceremony where the Crown Prince and the Maidens pray for a plentiful harvest (the Harvest Festival) takes place in the Shu clan’s southern territories. Without a guardian consort, Keigetsu presses on with the preparations, despite the stress of hosting. Reirin offers unwavering support to Keigetsu, delighted by her first encounter with royalty.
At the moment of arrival, an unexpected mishap happens, causing the ritual to be disrupted. A distressed Keigetsu loses control of her spell, resulting in another body swap with Reirin. Complicating matters, the Reirin who has just switched bodies is kidnapped…?!
Reirin’s two protective brothers, Kou Keikou and Kou Keishou, step in, causing the scenario to shift in surprising ways. Who is the new conspirator secretly slipping in to set up Keigetsu…? This enjoyable story of swapped destinies, featuring two contrasting heroines, now opens its second chapter, the “First Royal Outing” Arc!
Mitsue Yamazaki helms the anime direction at studio Doga Kobo. Yoshiko Nakamura oversees the series composition while Ai Kikuchi designs the characters. Manaka Iwami voices Kou Reirin and Natsumi Kawaida portrays Shu Keigetsu.
The series originates from a light novel written by Satsuki Nakamura. It debuted online on the Shosetsuka ni Naro platform in July 2020. Ichijinsha published the printed edition, illustrated by YukiKana, in December 2020. Around the same time, a manga adaptation drawn by Ei Ohitsuji began serialization in Monthly Comic Zero Sum.
