Monthly Comic Flapper has disclosed that the Lycoris Recoil manga will wrap up after just two more installments. The series is an adaptation of the 2022 original TV anime produced by A-1 Pictures.
Spider Lily (story) and Yasunori Bizen (art) debuted the Lycoris Recoil manga in September 2022. Kadokawa’s Comic Flapper has been serializing it from the start. As of August 2026, the publisher has released nine volumes.
Lycoris Recoil portrays the everyday lives of members of Japan’s Lycoris Project, a government‑backed counter‑crime unit composed of teenage orphans. The narrative focuses on Takina Inoue, an adept assassin who, while trying to rescue a teammate, broke protocol and compromised her mission. As a result, Takina is reassigned away from the unit and placed in a new role as partner to Chisato Nishikigi at Café LycoRyco. However, adjusting to her new duties proves difficult for her; she has only heard rumors of Chisato’s successes and missteps, leaving her to wonder if the upbeat girl standing before her is truly the same Chisato. After all, Chisato refrains from lethal actions and seems indifferent toward her responsibilities!
Shingo Adachi helmed the TV anime and its subsequent ONAs; Lycoris Recoil: Friends are thieves of time. The principal voice cast featured:
- Chika Anzai as Chisato Nishikigi
- Shion Wakayama as Takina Inoue
- Ami Koshimizu as Mizuki Nakahara
- Kosuke Sakaki as Mika
- Misaki Kuno as Kurumi
In addition to the manga, Monthly Comic Flapper has put out three anthology compilations. Asaura (author) and Imigimuru (illustrator) turned the anime into a light‑novel series called Lycoris Recoil Ordinary Days. Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko started releasing the light novel on September 9, 2022.
The Lycoris Recoil property expands into a web novel, a stage play, and an online radio show named LycoReco Radio. Yen Press handles the English publishing of both the manga and the light novel across North America, while Crunchyroll streams the anime.
