Saka Mikami serves as both writer and illustrator for the The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity (Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku) manga, which launched on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket platform in October 2021 and surpassed ten million copies in circulation by December 2025. The series has released 17 volumes as of September 9, 2026, and Kodansha also publishes it in English. The anime adaptation was animated by Studio CloverWorks.
The story centers on Rintaro, a second‑year student at Chidori High—an institution known for its low‑performing male students—who assists in his family’s bakery. One day he meets Kaoruko, a kind girl with whom he quickly forms a bond. Complications arise when Rintaro learns that Kaoruko attends Kikyo Girls’ High, an elite academy for affluent families. As their friendship deepens, the pair must confront rivalries and intrigues among their classmates to keep their relationship intact.
