A fresh Yu-Gi-Oh! animated short has debuted to honor KAZUKI TAKAHASHI: YU-GI-OH! ART WORKS, the inaugural art showcase devoted to the series’ creator.
The brief film reunites Yugi and several well‑known figures in Domino City, featuring Blue‑Eyes White Dragon alongside Seto Kaiba. Eri Osada took the director’s chair, Hiroko Utsumi oversaw the storyboarding, Takahiro Kagami designed the characters and directed the 2D artwork, and Haruka Taira acted as art director. Production was handled by KONAMI animation.

The initiative was launched by Yu‑Gi‑Oh! anime production committee to mark the 30th anniversary of the manga’s original serialization.
KAZUKI TAKAHASHI: YU‑GI‑OH! ART WORKS will be on display from December 12, 2026 through February 21, 2027 at Creative Museum Tokyo, Japan. The show will exhibit original pieces by Kazuki Takahashi and commemorates the 30th anniversary of Yu‑Gi‑Oh!, which first appeared in 1996. An English‑language page is also provided for global guests.
Kazuki Takahashi premiered Yu‑Gi‑Oh! in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 1996; the series ran until 2004 and was compiled into 38 volumes. It subsequently spurred several anime versions. Takahashi passed away in 2022 at age 60.
The narrative centers on Yugi Muto, who solves the ancient Egyptian Millennium Puzzle, awakening a enigmatic Pharaoh’s spirit. Together they engage in numerous card duels and games to safeguard allies and unravel Pharaoh’s forgotten past.
The property has evolved into a celebrated trading card game (Yu‑Gi‑Oh! TCG/OCG), a slew of anime entries (such as Yu‑Gi‑Oh! Duel Monsters, GX, 5D’s, ZEXAL, ARC‑V, and others), video games, and films. Meanwhile, a remastered version of the series Yu‑Gi‑Oh Duel Monsters GX has just been slated for release in April 2025.
