Marvel Studios has enlarged the cast of the newest X-Men movie by casting Asa Germann as the iconic mutant Angel, also known as Warren Worthington III.
The actor known from the Gen V series will portray one of the original X-Men team members in the reboot project, which is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The news of Asa Germann’s involvement offers new clues about the direction of Marvel’s X-Men film storyline.
Germann had previously auditioned for the role of Cyclops, but that part ultimately went to Kit Connor. Marvel then selected him for Angel after being impressed by his performance during the casting process.
Angel is one of the original X-Men characters, first introduced in comics in 1963 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The character, whose full name is Warren Worthington III, is a mutant with large bird-like wings that allow him to fly.
Throughout his comic book history, Angel also has a significant storyline in which he transforms into Archangel after undergoing a major metamorphosis caused by the villain Apocalypse’s experiments.
The cast lineup for X-Men is beginning to take shape
The newest X-Men film will be directed by Jake Schreier, who previously worked on Thunderbolts, and is scheduled for release on May 5, 2028. In addition to Asa Germann as Angel, the movie also features a number of prominent actors.
The cast includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Adam Driver as the villain Mister Sinister.
For Asa Germann, playing Angel marks the next major milestone in his career after gaining recognition for the role of Sam Riordan in Gen V. His involvement in the Marvel universe represents one of the latest developments in the preparation of an X-Men reboot that will bring the mutants back to the MCU.
With the cast now becoming more complete, fans are eagerly awaiting how Marvel Studios will bring back the stories of the mutants after the previous X-Men film era.
